Learning from the Past: Russell Corl Speaks at DEN Talks
On June 12, 2025, our Managing Partner, Russell Corl, delivered a presentation for the Denver Energy Network’s DEN Talks series. His discussion centered on the exploration and production (E&P) industry’s reliance on debt to fund drilling activity and the pivotal events that unfolded during the 2014–2016 oil price crash.
Russell highlighted how the cycle of aggressive borrowing shaped the industry’s trajectory during that period, and he encouraged attendees to consider how those lessons apply to today’s market conditions. The presentation concluded with a dynamic exchange, as audience members weighed in on what history can teach us and how it may inform the near future of oil and gas.
We’re grateful to Jake DiRe, James Carroll, and the Denver Energy Network team for coordinating this event and to everyone who joined the conversation.
